Love For My Host

Nov 6, 08:59 AM

I just got a courtesy notice from my hosting provider about a planned upgrade to the hardware my stuff lives on. I'm very not used to web hosts being so clear and nice and stuff, so I thought I'd share... If any of you are looking for hosting, I'm mighty happy with these fine folks at Siteground:

Dear Daniel Klyn,

SiteGround is happy to announce that your website(s) wildlyappropriate.com hosted on server siteground5.com will be transferred to a newer and more powerful machine on Wednesday, November 8, 2006.

Your new server is an Intel Dual Xeon 3.2 Ghz with 4GB RAM. The new server will increase significantly the quality of our service in the following aspects:

  • the new hardware is more reliable and reduces the chance of failure (the older the hardware, the higher the probability of failure)
  • the new server will be more powerful and your site will load faster
  • the server configuration will allow future upgrades of space and traffic.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE TRANSFER:

  • The transfer of your account will be performed on Wednesday, November 8, 2006. The scheduled time for the transfer is approximately 2 a.m. CST.
  • The server transfer involves the following: the old hard disk of your current hosting machine with all the information it stores about your account will be moved on the new and more powerful machine. This procedure usually takes between 15 and 30 minutes, after which our administrators will start testing if all the services are properly running on the new machine. Our system administrators will work in the night to make sure you do not experience any inconvenience due to the transfer.
  • There will be no information loss during the transfer.
  • SiteGround will send you a notification email once the transfer and all the tests have been completed.

This email is for your information only. We would like to kindly ask you not to post tickets in regards with the transfer. In your Customer Area --> Get Support --> Server Status Check, we will post regular updates about the progress of the transfer.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. We are looking forward to offering you a higher quality of service!

Best regards,

The SiteGround Team
